Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how hivemunk ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at hivemunk.com (or any other domain where this policy is hosted, such as those used for beta testing or early access programs) and use our services (collectively, the "Service").
By using our Service, you consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this Cookie Policy. If you do not agree to our use of cookies, you should not use, or discontinue use of our Service. In the event of any conflict, the version of the Cookie Policy available on the specific domain you are accessing shall prevail.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device to help our Service remember you. We use them to maintain your active session, and we also use similar technologies such as tracking pixels (small pieces of code embedded in web pages) to understand how visitors interact with our Service.
Types of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the operation of our Service. They enable core functionality such as security, authentication, session management, and region-based consent classification. Without these cookies, services you have requested cannot be provided.
Examples:
- Authentication cookies to identify you when you sign in
- Security cookies to protect against fraudulent activity
- Session cookies to maintain your logged-in status and remember your preferences during your visit
- A consent region cookie to determine which privacy regulations apply to your visit (see "How We Determine Your Consent Requirements" below)
- A consent preference cookie to remember your cookie choices
Functional / Preferences
These cookies and local storage entries enable specific functionality of the Service and remember your preferences. They are not strictly necessary for the core Service to function, but they enhance your experience.
Examples:
- A local storage entry to persist your anonymous chat session so that it survives page reloads and browser restarts
- A local storage entry to remember that you dismissed the floating chat bubble
These items can be cleared through your browser settings without affecting your ability to use the core features of the Service (see "Browser Settings" below).
Performance and Analytics Cookies
Performance and analytics cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, such as which pages are visited most often or if users receive error messages. This data helps us improve the performance and user experience of our Service.
We use Microsoft Clarity, which is a user behavior analytics tool provided by Microsoft Corporation ("Microsoft") that captures how visitors use and interact with our website through session replays, heatmaps, and aggregated usage metrics. When Clarity is active, it may collect the following types of information:
- HTTP header information (such as IP address, browser type, and the page you are viewing)
- Device and screen information (such as screen size, operating system, and device type)
- User interaction data (such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, and touch gestures)
- Page content and layout information necessary to reproduce a visual session replay
- Performance data (such as page load times and JavaScript errors)
This data is sent to Microsoft Corporation and is used by us to understand how visitors interact with our Service, identify usability issues, and improve the user experience. Microsoft may also use this data in accordance with its own Privacy Statement. Microsoft Clarity does not collect passwords, payment details, or other sensitive input fields, which are masked by default.
We also use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, which is a snippet of code placed on our website that collects data about how visitors interact with our pages. When you visit a page on our Service, the Pixel may collect the following types of information:
- HTTP header information (such as IP address, browser type, and the page you are viewing)
- Pixel-specific data (such as the Pixel ID and the Facebook cookie)
- Button click data (such as any buttons clicked by visitors and the labels of those buttons)
- Page metadata (such as page URL, page name, and domain)
- Browsing behavior (such as pages viewed and time spent)
This data is sent to Meta Platforms, Inc. ("Meta") and is used by us to measure the effectiveness of our advertising, understand website traffic patterns, and build audiences for advertising purposes on Meta's platforms. Meta may also use this data in accordance with its own Data Policy.
We also use the Google Tag (gtag.js) for Google Ads, which is a snippet of code placed on our website that collects data about how visitors interact with our pages and measures the effectiveness of our Google Ads campaigns. When the Google Tag is active, it may collect the following types of information:
- HTTP header information (such as IP address, browser type, and the page you are viewing)
- Google-specific identifiers (such as Google click identifiers and Google Analytics client identifiers)
- Page metadata (such as page URL and referral information)
- Conversion data (such as actions taken on our Service after clicking a Google ad)
- Browsing behavior (such as pages viewed and time spent)
This data is sent to Google LLC ("Google") and is used by us to measure the effectiveness of our Google Ads campaigns, understand website traffic patterns, and optimize our advertising on Google's platforms. Google may also use this data in accordance with its own Privacy Policy.
These cookies are not strictly necessary. Depending on your location, they may require your explicit consent before being placed on your device, or you may have the right to opt out of their use. See "Your Cookie Choices" below.
Marketing and Advertising Cookies
Marketing and advertising cookies are used to track visitors across websites to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to them and their interests.
The Meta Pixel described above also serves a marketing and advertising function. It enables us to display targeted advertisements to you on Meta platforms (such as Facebook and Instagram) based on pages you have visited on our Service. Meta may match your activity on our Service to your Meta account to deliver personalized ads.
Similarly, the Google Tag described above serves a marketing and advertising function. It enables us to measure the performance of our Google Ads campaigns and, through Google's advertising network, deliver targeted advertisements to you based on your interactions with our Service. Google may match your activity on our Service to your Google account to deliver personalized ads.
Note: Microsoft Clarity is used exclusively for analytics purposes (session replays, heatmaps, and usability analysis). It does not serve a marketing or advertising function and is not used to deliver targeted advertisements.
These cookies are not strictly necessary. Depending on your location, they may require your explicit consent before being placed on your device, or you may have the right to opt out of their use. See "Your Cookie Choices" below.

How We Determine Your Consent Requirements
We use your approximate geographic location — determined from your IP address at the network level — to classify which privacy regulations apply to your visit. This classification is stored in the consent-region cookie and determines how non-essential cookies are handled:
- Opt-in regions (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Brazil, and other jurisdictions with opt-in consent requirements): Non-essential cookies, including the Meta Pixel, Google Tag, and Microsoft Clarity, are not placed on your device unless you provide explicit consent through our cookie consent banner.
- Opt-out regions (California, and other jurisdictions with opt-out rights): Non-essential cookies may be placed by default, but you will be presented with a clear option to opt out. If you opt out, the Meta Pixel, Google Tag, and Microsoft Clarity will be deactivated and no further data will be collected or sent to Meta, Google, or Microsoft.
- Other regions: Non-essential cookies may be placed without a consent banner. You may still control cookies through your browser settings (see "Browser Settings" below).
Geographic detection is based on your IP address and may not always be accurate — for example, if you use a VPN or are traveling. If you believe your region has been incorrectly classified, you may contact us at hello@hivemunk.com. The consent-region cookie expires after 24 hours, at which point your location will be re-evaluated on your next visit.
Your Cookie Choices
Strictly Necessary Cookies
Because we use certain cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of the Service (such as maintaining your session and determining your consent requirements), these cookies cannot be opted out of if you wish to use hivemunk. By using our Service, you agree to our use of these essential cookies.
Analytics and Marketing Cookies
Your choices regarding analytics and marketing cookies (including the Meta Pixel) depend on your geographic location:
If you are in an opt-in region (EEA, UK, Brazil, and similar jurisdictions): Before any analytics or marketing cookies are placed on your device, we will ask for your explicit consent through a cookie consent banner. You may choose to accept or decline. If you decline, the Meta Pixel, Google Tag, and Microsoft Clarity will not be activated on your device and no data will be collected or sent to Meta, Google, or Microsoft through these technologies. Your choice is remembered for one year via the cookie-consent cookie.
If you are in an opt-out region (California, and similar jurisdictions): Analytics and marketing cookies may be placed by default. However, we will present you with the option to opt out. If you opt out, the Meta Pixel, Google Tag, and Microsoft Clarity will be deactivated and no further data will be collected or sent to Meta, Google, or Microsoft. Your choice is remembered for one year via the cookie-consent cookie.
If you are in another region: Analytics and marketing cookies may be placed without a consent prompt. You may still manage cookies through your browser settings (see "Browser Settings" below).
Withdrawing Consent or Changing Your Preference
If you have previously accepted or declined cookies and wish to change your preference, you may do so at any time by:
- Deleting the
cookie-consentcookie from your browser (see "Browser Settings" below). On your next visit, the consent banner will reappear and you may make a new choice. - Using the opt-out mechanisms described below.
Opting Out of Meta (Facebook) Advertising
In addition to managing cookies on our Service, you can control how Meta uses your data for advertising by visiting your Facebook Ad Preferences at https://www.facebook.com/adpreferences.
Opting Out of Google Advertising
You can control how Google uses your data for advertising by visiting your Google Ad Settings at https://adssettings.google.com.
Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can usually find these settings in the 'Options', 'Settings', or 'Preferences' menu of your browser. Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies will prevent the Service from functioning properly and you will be unable to log in.
Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Our Service does not currently respond to DNT signals. However, you may use the cookie consent mechanisms described above to manage your preferences.
Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation, our operations, or for other reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on our Service and updating the "Last Updated" date.
